We had such a great audience for our last performance today of Madeleine Robin Known As Roxane! I will especially miss sitting backstage and hearing the laughs and/or gasps during the swordfight…

Introducing our Cast: Tennille Read

TennilleReadTennille Read is playing the titular Roxane in Madeleine Robin Known As Roxane. 

Tennille is a Toronto based actor and graduate of George Brown Theatre School. She is also a graduate of Queen’s University’s Stage and Screen Studies program. Selected theatre credits include: Tanya in the hit show Delicacy by Kat Sandler (Summerworks Festival 2013), Inez in No Exit (Soup Can Theatre), Bessie in The Drowning Girls (Alumnae Theatre), Lady in Orpheus Descending (GBTS), Jane in Pride and Prejudice (Alumnae Theatre), Lady Windermere in Lady Windermere’s Fan (Alumnae Theatre), Mabel in An Ideal Husband (Village Players) and May in Time Flies (Theatre on the Lake). Selected film and tv: Dana (Mosaic Pictures), A Dying Fall (CBC – Northern Reflections), Versus Ivan (Solnoctu Productions). Tennille is also the co-founder of Theatre on the Lake, a summer festival in Yellowknife, the Northwest Territories, and Theatre Inamorata here in Toronto.

Introducing our Cast: Alexandra Simpson

Alexandra Simpson is playing the dual roles of Sophie and Christian in Madeleine Robin Known As Roxane.

Alexandra just graduated from the Performance Acting Program at Ryerson May 2013. She is a multidisciplinary artist with background in music (piano, guitar and accordion), dance, physical theatre, directing and writing. She is finding great joy in creating and performing in these various disciplines. She is a co-founder of Charlatan Remedies, a company dedicated to “concocting cures for social stiffness” through social experiments and audience immersive productions. As a young writer she had produced 2 of her original works Hiatus at the 2013 Ryerson New Voices Festival and Surviving Speares, at the 2013 Fringe Festival. She was a participant in the SummerWorks Leadership Intensive Program, and is an intern at SummerWorks. Currently her audience immersive piece, Pit Sublime is a part of the Alumnae New Ideas Festival.
