What drew you to My Last – ?

I was initially attracted to this project because I have been wanting to work with Grace Smith and Theatre Double Take for a while now. I found out about sharing the role with three others after signing on to the project – which was an added treat!

Tell us about your Lucia.

My Lucia is a vibrant, loving girl who learns through youthful trial by fire. Thrust into a situation where mistakes are not an option.

Kari Bell is a recent Acting Programme graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax. During her time in Nova Scotia, Kari performed in many production, her favorites including Lady Windermere’s Fan (Mrs. Erlynne), Blood Wedding (Mother-in-Law), While We’re Young (Clara),The Madwoman of Chaillot (Dr. Jadin and Josephine) and The March (Rossi). Once graduated, Kari moved back to Alberta, where she had grown up. During her year in the homeland, she performed in five professional productions with Kompany Family Theatre, Book of Jobes (Various Roles), being her favorite. Kari moved to Toronto in September 2013 to pursue her acting career in a new city and is so thrilled to be a part of Theatre Double Take’s original production of My Last – .

Why did you want to take part in My Last – ?

To be honest, I had seen a previous Theatre Double Take production, written by Grace Smith, and was so enveloped by her writing style that I just jumped at the chance to work with her and this new piece of original work. (Editor’s note: we did not pay Kari to say this.)

The main character, Lucia, is being played by four different actors. Describe your Lucia.

She’s trying the best that she can.

Any last words for the audience?

I don’t think there’s anything I would like the audience to know coming in; just have a sit and a listen.
