Theatre Double Take is all about taking a second look – providing a new perspective.
We seek to bridge the gap between scholarship and artistic creation by producing research-based adaptations of classic works and historical events. We like our adaptations and productions to be inquisitive. More important than updating our sources to a modern setting is examining them under a modern microscope.
Our shows include but are not necessarily limited to:
- adaptations of classic works that explores intriguing and/or problematic issues in the source material
- plays and adaptations exploring infrequently-considered perspectives of famous stories and historical events.
- obscure plays, examining textual/performative/cultural issues that may have contributed to their sparse performance history
Theatre Double Take is also committed to providing artistic opportunities for women in theatre, as well as young, up-and-coming artists.
